Updated: 14 October 2026 2 minutes 3 sections

The Milliy sertifikat (National Certificate) History exam is shorter than the other subjects: 45 tasks in 90 minutes. The tasks are varied, though: test questions, matching and open questions where you write a year or a name.

Exam structure

Topics run from ancient times to the modern era: political history, social and economic history, and culture.

TasksTypePoints
1-32Single-answer test1.3 / 2.2 / 3.2
33-35Matching2.2
36-45Open a/b (year, name, term)1.1 + 1.1 or 1.5 + 1.7

How to remember dates

  • Learn dates not one by one but as a chain within each period: cause - event - result.
  • Make a table of 10-15 key dates for each period and go over it every day.
  • Link events from the same year: for example, the history of Uzbekistan and world history.
  • In open questions write the year in figures and names in full.

Matching tasks

In these tasks three items (a, b, c) are matched to three answers. Find the pair you are surest of first: fewer options remain, and choosing the right combination gets easier.
