The attestation test (qualification test) for a general secondary school teacher in Uzbekistan has two stages: stage 1 is the subject (35 tasks) and the professional standard (5 tasks), 80 points in total; stage 2 is teaching skills (10 tasks), 20 points. Every right answer is worth 2 points: 50 tasks and 100 points, about 120 minutes under the 2026 specification. Your category is set by the sum of both stages: highest 80, first 70, second 60, specialist 55. The legal basis is the Regulation approved by Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 572 of 17 September 2021.
Who, when and how often
- The regular compulsory attestation happens once every 5 years (clause 4 of the Regulation).
- A new teacher takes it after 3 years of teaching (except master's graduates).
- Applications close each year on 1 March and 1 October (clause 31); the tests run in March-May and October-November (clause 36).
- The test is written by the Scientific and Practical Centre for Teaching Excellence and International Assessment and is taken on a computer.
Test structure
A wrong answer scores 0. Source: clauses 34-1 and 35 of the Regulation and the 2026 specification.
| Stage | Block | Tasks | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | Subject | 35 | 2 each = 70 |
| Stage 1 | Professional standard | 5 | 2 each = 10 |
| Stage 1 total | 40 | 80 | |
| Stage 2 | Teaching skills: general pedagogy 7 + subject methodology 3 | 10 | 2 each = 20 |
| Total | 50 | 100 |
Time and task types
- The 2026 specification gives about 120 minutes for 50 tasks; candidates with special needs get 15 % extra time.
- Y1 - one correct answer.
- Y2 - matching (for example "1-b, 2-c, 3-a, 4-d").
- Y3 - putting steps in order (for example "2-4-1-3").
- All tasks are closed: you choose the answer, you do not write it.
Special formats
- Music and physical education teachers: stage 1 tasks are worth 1 point each (40 points) and stage 2 is a practical exam worth 60.
- Foreign language teachers: the subject part has its own format, 4 × 20 = 80 points.
- For other subjects the structure is the same: 35 subject tasks, 5 on the professional standard, 10 on teaching skills.
Categories: how many points you need
Source: clause 44 of the Regulation; the score is the sum of both stages. An extraordinary attestation never lowers a category.
| Current category | To move up | To keep it | Lowered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highest (chief teacher) | - | 80+ | below 80 → first |
| First (leading teacher) | 80+ → highest | 70-79 | below 70 → second |
| Second (senior teacher) | 70+ → first | 60-69 | below 60 → specialist |
| Specialist (teacher with a degree) | 60+ → second | 55-59 | below 55 → not fit for the post |
86 points and the 70 % bonus, the certificate privilege
- 86 points or more give a 70 % bonus on the base pay rate for 2 years - only for teachers who took both stages and reached (or kept) the highest or first category (clause 48).
- Certificate privilege (clause 36 as amended by resolution No. 411 of 29 July 2026): a foreign language teacher with at least C1 (national or international), or another teacher with a national certificate of at least B+ in their own subject, gets the maximum points for the subject and professional standard while the certificate is valid.
- Taking stage 2 (teaching skills) is still compulsory.
- Maximum points from a certificate do not count towards the 86+ bonus - for that you can take an extraordinary attestation.
How to prepare: a 6-week plan
| Week | What you do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Take a full paper in 120 minutes and log each block (subject /70, professional standard /10, teaching skills /20) |
| 2-3 | Subject: the topics with the most mistakes, 15-20 tasks a day; multi-step problems beyond the school syllabus |
| 4 | Professional standard and teaching skills: lesson planning, assessment and feedback, a safe environment, working with parents, child psychology, subject methodology |
| 5 | Practise Y2 and Y3 tasks on their own; read the key clauses of Regulation No. 572 (4, 36, 44, 48) |
| 6 | Two full papers in real time, review your mistakes |
Useful tips
- The subject gives 70 of 100 points - spend most of your time there.
- Professional standard and teaching-skills questions are situational: in "what would you do?", the right answer usually puts the pupil's interest and safety first and follows the rules.
- In matching tasks (Y2), find the most obvious pair first - the rest gets easier.
- In ordering tasks (Y3), fix the first and last step, then place the middle ones.
- The exam is on a computer: practise on a screen with a timer too.
Frequently asked questions
- How many points do I need for the highest category? 80 points across both stages.
- Is there a "test 70 + teaching skills 16" rule for the first category? No such rule is in the Regulation: it only speaks of the sum of both stages.
- How often is attestation held? The regular compulsory one - every 5 years.
- Which subjects does Trylab cover? For now, full 50-task papers for maths teachers; the professional standard and teaching-skills parts are the same for every subject.
